Indigenous Peoples' Day with Fresh Produce
This afternoon the CAIRNS director zoomed into a presentation with Fresh Produce, a “sort of revolutionary” advertising company in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The idea was that Native Americans’ Day / Indigenous Peoples’ Day (c/sh)ould focus on American Indian tribes here in our state today instead of American Indian persons in the past. Specifically, how can we promote and perpetuate tribal sovereignty today and into the future. Basic knowledge of American Indian tribes is essential. Changing the current conditions in our state will take a revolution in the way each of us speaks about American Indians tribes and their reservations and citizens. Once we are aware of the appropriate terminology, whether or not to employ it is our personal decisions.
