Developing the Newest Educational Art Exhibition

This afternoon, the CAIRNS director presented the conceptual framework of the next CAIRNS educational art exhibition, titled Navigating Narratives. It will be organized around the journal entries of William Clark, Patrick Gass, John Ordway, and Joseph Whitehouse, members of the Corps of Discovery, during their eight days in Teton Territory in 1804. The goal is to include visual artworks, poems and songs by creatives residing in each of the 66 counties in South Dakota. The first two artists invited to participate, Amber Hansen and Reyna Hernandez, spoke extemporaneously about their work and the exhibition when they were unexpectedly asked to do so. Audience members graciously shared ideas for reaching out to creatives in all the counties, and volunteered to assist with the project.
