The Gift and Dignity Interpretive Panels

The Oglala Sioux Tribe’s Clinical Lab invited the CAIRNS director to conduct a day-long training. The morning session focused on The Gift exhibit that opened in 2021 and is now on display at the South Dakota Art Museum. Participants read and discussed the narrative, and viewed the community version of the exhibit that consists of panels containing photographic reproductions of the artworks and all of the text of the museum version of the exhibit. The afternoon session focused on the three educational panels that CAIRNS developed for display alongside the Dignity sculpture along the I-90 interstate highway at Chamberlain, South Dakota. The State of South Dakota is prohibiting those panels from being installed.
