Words Fail Us Many Times

This week’s CAIRNS Etanhan Wotanin column uses the annual Lakota Film Festivals, organized by CAIRNS, as a jumping off point to discuss So Surreal: Behind the Masks, a new film by Rezolution Pictures. Its focus centers on traditional Yup’ik and Kwakwakawakw carved masks that were taken from their home communities, then bought and sold by outsider individuals and institutions in Canada, the United States, and France. The column, “Words Fail Us Many Times,” can be read now by clicking here, or later this week in the Lakota Times newspaper.
