Waniyetu
Thursday, December 4, 2025
Our latest CAIRNS Etanhan Wotanin column is related to today’s full moon whose name is Waniyetu Wi, Winter Moon. It mentions the multiple meaning of “waniyetu” and explores the interesting narratives of how the quadruplet brothers established the four directions and why the oldest of them, Yata, lost his birthright to establish the first direction. The column, “Waniyetu”, can be read now by clicking here. The image above is a diagram of Tate’s lodge showing the door and the seating places of him (the green triangle) and his quadruplet sons. The colored triangles represent his sons, and the numbers in them indicate their birth order.
