Roger Broer Agrees to Create Artwork for New Exhibit

The co-curators of In and Out of Place, which is the eighth in a series of educational art exhibitions that CAIRNS has developed since 2015, met up with Roger Broer in his studio in Hill City. Lukas and the CAIRNS director fortuitously were in Hill City when Roger called, so the three of them met up and discussed the new exhibit. The curators had been discussing beings that used to live in the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty lands, including the large short-faced bear. Knowing that Roger has an affinity for bears, the three of them visited about the extinct short-faced bear and Roger agreed to create an artwork to be displayed in proximity to a replica of the bear’s skull.
