Brontothere Skull is Delivered to CAIRNS
Wednesday, February 11, 2026
Early this afternoon, Rich (in the photo above) delivered a crate that was shipped from Ontario, Canada. Inside is a replica of a skull and jaw of a brontothere that lived around 30 million years ago. That animal was a mammal and after it died its bones were fossilized and eventually, around 30 million years later, those bones were dug up and shipped most likely to some university in the United States. We are conducting research so that we can share more specifics of where the animal died, when its fossilized bones were dug up, and where all those bones have traveled (including to Trenton, Ontario, and now Wingsprings, South Dakota), along with additional information.
